N0RQ-15 APRS digipeater
In September 2007, the N0RQ-15 digi went up in Huron SD (my hometown).
It consists of:
Kantronics KPC-3+ v9.1 with "new paradigm" parameters, as recommended at http://eng.usna.navy.mil/~bruninga/aprs/kpc3+WIDEn.txt
GE MVS commercial 2m radio with 35+ watts
Diamond F22A vertical with the tip a bit over 60' (would love to find a higher site in/near Huron)
See it at FINDU or the DB0ANF web site.
The APRS situation in east-central SD is now improved, but still in need of more digipeaters and I-gates! Much of the time, the Huron digi is not even hitting another digi or an I-gate, though it is some of the time. Mitchell is a prime spot for a digi. The DeSmet area would be a good spot for a digi. Having an I-gate in or closer to Huron would be super. Having another digi close enough to Huron that is also close enough to an I-gate would also do the trick. Contact me if you could help work on any of those things.
Updates in status of eastern SD APRS:
Rolly N0AHL informs me that a digi will go up near Orient (west of Redfield, north of Miller) sometime spring 2008, and it should hit both the Redfield I-gate, and hopefully the Huron digi
